Born in New York in 1954, Steven Meisel was attracted to beauty and modeling from an early age. And at only 12 years old he asked older colleagues about how to enter the world of fashion . One of the great anecdotes of this fervent interest in starting the profession and becoming a renowned photographer led him to pretend to be one of Richard Avedon's assistants to sneak into modeling agencies and be closer to him and his work. And he even went so far as to post himself at the door of the most prestigious modeling agencies in the city to take photos of the women of the moment, like a paparazzi. Without knowing what he was doing, he set in motion a mechanism that still continues to work today: being one of the best-regarded fashion photographers in the industry. In addition to the anecdotes that define him, Meisel studied at the Higher School of Art and Design, in his hometown. Afterwards, he enrolled at Parsons, where he majored in fashion illustration and immediately graduated in it.
